3. Pass the NMLS Nation Component Exam with Uniform State Test using our included test preparation program and add other states by getting and completing state PE courses

Pre-Licensure Education Requirements
New state-licensed MLOs are required to complete 20 hours of NMLS-approved education. This education must include 3 hours of Federal law, 3 hours of ethics (which shall include fraud, consumer protection, and fair lending issues), 2 hours of non-traditional mortgage lending, plus 8 hours of undefined education (referred to as electives) + 4 hours of AZ law. AZ has a requirement for 4 hours of instruction on state-specific laws which may be satisfied by either taking an AZ comprehensive course or a state-specific elective course.

Pre-licensing Requirements In addition to the initial 20 hours of SAFE education, Arizona requires 4 hours of training on Arizona state law instruction click here to get to your AZ 4 Hour MLO Education. New MLOs in Arizona are required to pass both the National MLO SAFE Exam with the Uniform State Content included. Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) your course completion record is posted on the NMLS, you pay for the exam and schedule the exam through the NMLS, and after successfully passing your NMLS exam on your first attempt using our extremely comprehensive and effective test preparation program you apply for all licenses and renewals on the NMLS.
Arizona Continuing Education CE AZ Requirements
MLO: Every state licensed MLO (in any approved status) is required to complete at least 8 hours of NMLS approved education annually beginning the year they are licensed (unless PE was completed in the same year). Annual CE education must include 3 hours of Federal law, 2 hours of ethics (which shall include fraud, consumer protection, and fair lending issues), and 2 hours of non-traditional mortgage lending, plus one (1) additional hour of AZ state-specific education (referred to as an elective). Number of hours is 3/2/2/+ 1hr of AZ law = 8

If you are already a licensed MLO in the state of Arizona you don't need to take PE (unless you have been instructed by the NMLS to do so). You do need to complete at least 8 Hours of NMLS approved continuing education every year following the completion of your PE requirements. Who has to be licensed in AZ as an MLO AZ Processor? Mortgage loan originator licensing requirements per title 6 chapter 9
12. "Loan originator":
(a) Means a natural person who for compensation or gain or in the expectation of compensation or gain does any of the following:
(i) Takes a residential mortgage loan application.
(ii) Offers or negotiates terms of a residential mortgage loan.
(iii) On behalf of a borrower, negotiates with a lender or noteholder to obtain a temporary or permanent modification in an existing residential mortgage loan agreement.
(b) Does not include: MLO Exemptions, these people do not need to get an AZ MLO license
(i) An individual engaged solely as a loan processor or underwriter except as provided in section 6-991.02.
(ii) A person who only performs real estate brokerage activities and who is licensed in accordance with title 32, chapter 20, unless the person is compensated by a lender, a mortgage broker or any other loan originator or by an agent of the lender, mortgage broker or other loan originator.
(iii) A person solely involved in extensions of credit relating to a timeshare plan as defined in 11 United States Code section 101(53D).
(iv) A person who originates five or fewer mortgage loans per calendar year if the source of the prospective financing also makes five or fewer mortgage loans per calendar year.
(v) A person who takes back a purchase money mortgage in connection with the sale of residential real estate.
(vi) An employer making a mortgage loan to an employee.
